South Beach
For those of us who can't make it out to the seaside this Bank Holiday weekend, there's a make-shift beach that has popped up in front of the National Theatre on the South Bank. A sandy beach, no less, which is more than most English beaches can boast.

Man U v. Barca
It's the big UEFA Champions League final today. Man U v. Barcelona. And they'll be squaring off here, at Wembley Stadium. Tickets are going for thousands of pounds. I might watch it. Might not.

Regents Park Mansions
Impressive mansions that were once reserved for the elite of London society. They look out on to Regents Park and are probably still some of the priciest and choicest properties in London.

Monument to the explorers
Lisbon's monument to the explorers and Portugal's golden age. A fortuitous passing airplane adds a bit of something extra.

Women of World War II
One of many memorials along the road in Whitehall. Not sure what I think of it. I think I like it...

Shard from Chalk Farm
More Shard-y goodness. As seen all the way from Chalk Farm. That's the rather famous Roundhouse music venue in the foreground. You can also see the top of St. Paul's to the left of the Shard.

modern-day mudlarks
Remember this post from a while back showing the Mudlark pub in Southwark? Here are some real life modern day mudlarks searching for treasures on the banks of the Thames. The Society of Thames Mudlarks make regular excursions down to the river and were instrumental in uncovering some interesting archaeology a while back.

Gordon Sq in spring
During the winter months, one forgets how much leaves can change the look of a place. This square near my school was completely bare for so long that I was pleasantly surprised by the tunnels and canopies that have suddenly sprouted in this spring weather.

school for girls
I like these random majestic buildings hidden in regular residential neighbourhoods.
Also, loving the new "location" feature on Blogger. Now you can see where I took all my photos!

Bath
A day trip to the west might take you to Bath where you can view this prospect of the Bath Cathedral peaking over the top of the Roman baths.

confetti in Hyde Park
We went to Hyde Park for the Royal Wedding. Couldn't stomach the crowds on the Mall. This is the moment when the happy married couple left Westminster and they shot confetti into the air. Quite atmospheric.

Theme Day: Mailbox
I'm afraid I have posted this one before, but it's one of my favorites and it works beautifully for the May Theme Day, "Mailbox." This is a bit of helpful signage for the postman on the side of a slightly derelict Victorian terraced house in Hackney.
More Royal Wedding shots tomorrow.
